US State of Georgia Hails VP Howard-Taylor

The US State of Georgia House of Representatives has adopted a resolution commending Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor for unselfish, and dedicated service to Liberia and its people.

According to a release from the Office of Vice President, Cynthia Blandford, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Liberia to the State of Georgia, received the resolution on behalf of the Vice President, who was not present at the ceremony due to national engagements.

The release said following protocols, the instrument was turned over to Josephine Klanteh-Nyemah in the Office of the Vice President, who then officially presented it to the Vice President on Wednesday, October 28, 2021, at her office at the Capitol in Monrovia.

Part of the Resolution reads: “Whereas, Vice President Chief Dr. Jewel Howard-Taylor is a grassroots organizer; a strong pillar of speech, human rights and the Rule of Law; a strong voice of change and progress in the Republic of Liberia; and icon for Liberian women.”

It further states: “Whereas this distinguished stateswoman  has given inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals and deep concern for her fellow citizens, and she possesses the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and strength of character, which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life.”

The Resolution 1335, read and Adopted March 2, 2020, by the UD  Georgia State House of Representatives, also acknowledged the many influential roles of the Vice President including serving on the Board of Trustees of the Restoration Baptist Church, the Bong County Bar Association, The Liberia National Red Cross and the Liberia Rural Women Association, among others.

The resolution stressed that these capacities are further testaments to the Vice President’s commitment to the well-being of others. Receiving the Resolution from Klanteh-Nyemah, the Vice President humbly thanked the members of the Georgia House of Representatives for the recognition.

“I feel immense pleasure to be selected to receive such recognition from this glorious institution. I value and respect this honor,” the Vice President said in her brief note of appreciation to the Georgia State House of Representatives.

The Georgia House of Representatives is the lower chamber of the Georgia General Assembly. Alongside the Georgia State Senate, it forms the legislative branch of the Georgia state government and works alongside the governor of Georgia to create laws and establish a state budget.
