The Liberia National Wushu Association (LNWA) with support from the Chinese Embassy has begun the construction of the first martial arts gymnasium at the back of the SKD Sports Complex.

The construction of the Martial Arts Gymnasium is part of the Chinese Embassy in Monrovia’s earlier pronouncement to support the LNWA to spread Chinese martial arts (Wushu) in Liberia.

It may be recalled that the Chinese Ambassador accredited to Liberia pledged the embassy’s support to the LNWA during a one-day Wushu awareness competition held in Monrovia by the LNWA in collaboration with the UNMIL Chinese Police (FPU) and the Confucius Institute at the University of Liberia.

According to the Vice President and Technical Director of the Liberia Wushu Federation, Master Junior Pewee Russian, the gymnasium will be a major boost to the association.

Master Russian thanked the People’s Republic of China and the Liberian government for their partnership that continues to bring development to Liberia.

“We want to thank the Chinese government through its ambassador Zhang Yue and the Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports, for their support to the Liberia National Wushu Association. I am very much excited to see the construction of the first Martial Arts Gymnasium,” Master Russian said.
