The Donamisport/YMCA U14 Team Liberia continues its selection and training this afternoon at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium, according to CEO Doc Lawson.
The team is preparing for the Dr. Pepper Dallas Cup in April in the United States.
If successful, it will be the first time for a Liberian U-14 team to participate in the tournament.
The program is supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Liberia Football Association.
Fifty two kids were initially selected from several communities in Monrovia and the number was recently reduced to 25. The official player delegation is 18.
Besides the official delegation, the rest of the players are part of a football youth development program, according to Donamisport/YMCA officials in Monrovia.
“It is a pilot project that we are hoping to use to identify talented players for Liberia football development program with the Liberia Football Association,” Doc Lawson said.
National coaches are helping in the selection of the players to make up Team Liberia for the tournament, he said.
