After qualifying to the “Big 5” of the Center Monrovia Community League, U-17 team Cece United is targeting qualifying for the playoffs and league championship. The team advanced to the “Big 5” stage after a 2-0 win over Acasia FC on Tuesday at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium, qualifying on a 4-2 aggregate following a 2-2 draw in the first leg. Having qualified to the Big 5, the team was paired against Real Sociedad in its next clash slated for today at the ATS. A win for the Sinkor academy team will see them advance to the playoffs where the last three teams will battle for the championship.
Cece United Football Academy (CUFA) is a grassroots football academy established in August 2012 by a group of football passionate Liberians. The youth football program, based in Saye Town, 3rd Street in Sinkor, seeks to educate young and talented kids about the soccer game, help parents bring up their kids with good moral discipline as well as making high emphasis on dedication to their academic studies. The programs at the academy, which is free to all children, targets kids of age 6-15 and currently has more than hundred (100) school-going kids in Sinkor and various communities around Liberia.
The academy strives to use football as a tool to ensure that young and talented footballers acquire formal education and become useful to society. The academy also has a team currently participating in the ongoing LFA national domestic youth league.
