The death is reported of journalist Zeogar Jaynes last week, after a brief illness in Monrovia.
The announcement shocked co-workers, relatives and friends. The former vice president of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia, Ms. Matilda Brooks of UNMIL Radio, wrote on her facebook, “I’m in tears this morning. How can u leave us so soon? We always look up to u for advice. There's not a day we'll not call upon u for a piece of advice that you'll not give. .we will forever miss u. When I need to take a professional decision it's u I called.”
Mr. Momolu V. O. Sirleaf, former SWAL president said he was devastated to hear about his friend’s death. The closeness of the two climaxed when the deceased was part of friends who participated in his recent wedding, as the above group photo indicates.
Former SWAL President Isaac Yates wrote in his facebook, “I am devastated and broken over the news of the death of a great brother and friend Zoegar Jaynes. My eyes are teary, my day is wasted but a great friend, a family man, a man of devotion and character has departed us so soon ZQ.”
Information received said Mr. Jaynes died of diabetic complications-diabetic ketoacidosis.
Daily Observer’s Omari Jackson regretted his untimely death and said Liberia has lost a man who was dedicated to his duties as a family man and a colleague. He urged the family and friends particularly the Sports Writers Association of Liberia, SWAL, to introduce a lecture series to honor his life.
Siebo Williams wrote about his death, “So it is really true that my brother and friend alias "FABULOUS and ZQ" is gone.
