One of Liberia’s football administrators, G. Andy Quamie, was honored as “2016 Sports Personality” by the National Excellence Awards.
The program was held on Friday, December 16, during the 5th Edition of the National Excellence Awards, of which over 10 esteemed individuals were honored in different areas at the Paynesville Town Hall.
Quamie, 44, received the “National Excellence Awards for Sports 2016.”
For about two decades, Mr. Quamie has been involved in sports, mainly football. He founded Watanga FC, which is currently in the 1st Division League of the Liberia Football Association.
Quamie is also a co-founder for Watanga Girls Kickball Team, which is part of the Liberia Kickball Federation.
Quamie is also a FIFA and CAF Match Commissioner.
He served in the following positions in the continental governing football organization – CAF: General Coordinator, Media Committee Member, Licensing Inspector, and Media Officers.
According to Quamie, he has commissioned more than 30 international matches as Match Commissioner and General Coordinator.
He also worked at the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea, CAF U-23 in Senegal 2015, Cameroon 2016 Women African Cup of Nations and is expected to be a part of CAF delegation to Gabon AFCON 2017.
Mr. Quamie is married, holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Administrator, and also the Chief of Office Staff of Montserrado County District # 6 Representative, Edwin M. Snowe.
