In the Friday’s elections, several new candidates have been qualified to contest. Among them are, Eric B. Myers, for president, Festus Harrison, Jr., for assistant secretary general, Anthony S. Dolo for treasurer, John K. Kerkula, vice president for operations and Oliver M. Blegay, assistant secretary general.

The release said elected officials are individuals of sound moral character and are with junior high school education or above, though it did not give details of the educational background of the candidates.

Another qualification of the candidates, the release said, was being selected by LAFASA member clubs, including Survival FC, Conquerors FC, Monrovia Giant Amputee Club, Island Warriors FC and Young Invaders FC.

All the candidates, the release said, are members who have served their respective clubs two years and above, and are able to carry out their responsibilities of LAFASA, if elected.

“Each team is entitled to one vote,” the release said, “and the voting is by secret ballot.” In the event of a tie, a second round of voting will be held until a simple majority is obtained.

The release noted that the Liberia Football Association technical director, Henry Brown will supervise then elections and urged the general sporting public to join the association on Friday to witness the election of its new or re-elected leadership.
