IE Appoints New Coach

The Invincible Eleven Majestic Sports Association has agreed to a six months deal with Samuel Sumo, the coach of 2016 County Meet winners, Montserrado.

The agreement, according to reports, was reached yesterday between the management of IE and the former LISCR and BYC II coach, and will expire in August 2017.

In an interview with this newspaper, coach Sumo, who acknowledged the current financial and technical challenges that the team is currently facing, said he is going to do his best to put the team in a better position.

“I know the team is faced with some challenges, but I am going to make a difference from this end to the middle of the season by making some adjustments in the team and bringing in new players,” he said.

He meanwhile called on IE supporters not to abandon the team during this crucial period, but to rather continue their support to the club.

The 47-year old with over 10 years of coaching experience, coached Exodus FC from the second division to the first division. He was also the coach of BYC II and deputy coach of LISCR FC.

Coach Sumo has so far reached one quarter final of the annual County Meet and three finals, winning the competition in his 2016 appearance with Montserrado County.

Invincible Eleven, one of the traditional clubs of Liberian football, has failed to secure a win since the start of the current Cellcom-LFA league.

The team has conceded eight defeats and 17 goals – managing to score four goals in their eight league matches.
