A month long Brownie J. Samukai Peace and Unity Football Tournament ended over the weekend at Kebbah Town, near Barnesville, outside Monrovia.
The tournament brought together several communities, including Openville, Beh-Wigne, Bend And Stop and Kebbah Town.
In the soccer grand final, Bend And Stop team lifted the prestigious trophy and a cash award of Ld100,000; runner-up Beh-Wigne team received Ld50,000 and a trophy; and Kebbah team received a cash prize of Ld25,000 and a trophy.
Two children soccer teams that participated in the tournament in the children category each received a trophy and a set of jerseys.
Meanwhile, because of delays in the kickball and soccer final matches, the re-scheduled games will come on this Sunday, March 2 between Bend And Stop and Kebbah Community.
On the same day, Referees will clash with a select side of the Liberia National Police.
Presenting the awards to the teams earlier, Hon. Brownie J. Samukai, Minister of National Defense, in whose honor the games were played, said it was meant to unite and bring the various communities together to celebrate.
He said the Ld325, 000 spent for the entire tournament, including the awards is to give the community a chance to be together, and meanwhile praised all the participants for their fair participation.
