Terrence Tisdell helps Costa do Sol advance to CAF Confederation Playoff
Liberia’s Norwegian based striker, Sam Johnson of Vålerenga, has begun making his new club proud after helping the team secure six points from their first two league matches.
Striker Jackson made his debut on Monday, March 12, in the league’s opening match where he scored the lone goal in the 63rd minute, to register his name on the goal scoring chat of the European league. Later on Sunday in the team’s first home match, the 24-year-old again became the match winner after scoring the winning goal in the 65th minute in their 2-1 win against ODD.
When he joined the club in January, the 24-year-old said, “I feel at home already and will do everything to make myself and the club proud.” His performances in his first two matches show that he is on track of making his club proud.
Having won the league title in 2005, Vålerenga are currently seated second on the league table with six points and will take on Sarpsborg 08 in their next match on April 2 after the international break.
In another development, LISCR’s loanee forward Terrence Tisdell scored the lone goal for Costa do Sol, helping the Mozambican club progress to the Play-off of the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup. Tisdell slotted home the opening goal in the 3rd minute against South Africa’s Cape Town City to secure a 2-1 away win at the Athlone Stadium, in Cape Town, South Africa.
Costa do Sol lost 1-0 in the first leg in Maputo after Sibusiso Masina scored the lone goal for Cape Town. However, Tisdell’s side could not afford to drop from the competition during the first round. Tisdell’s early minute goal was followed by teammate Sibusiso Masina second-half goal in the 83rd minute to secure a slot in the play-off.
Costa do Sol is among the 16 winners of the Confederation Cup’s first round teams that will be paired against the 16 losers of the Champions League first round, with the teams from the Confederation Cup hosting the second leg.
The draw for the play-off will be held on 21 March 2018.
