Host Nimba County tops the Group II football log with four points after a convincing 2-0 win over River Cess County.
Mark Yallah opened the scorecard with a 17th minute goal, his second from two games. In the 37th minute, Daniel Tuazama increased the tally to 2 through a scrambled ball. The former leading goal scorer for Montserrado County also netted his second goal from two games.
In the second of Tuesday’s football matches, Montserrado and Sinoe settled to 0-0 draw. Montserrado is second on the log with two points and two goals. Sinoe also has two points, but with one goal. River Cess is last with a point.
Meanwhile, in Tuesday’s kickball category, Nimba defeated River Cess 23-0 to automatically qualify for the BIG 8 quarter-final. Nimba, on Sunday, whipped Montserrado 6-1, and sits with six points.
In the second kickball match, Montserrado whipped Sinoe 8-0 to tie with River Cess, who defeated Sinoe 8-1 in their first game.
Sinoe is automatically out of contention for the second slot to join Nimba in the quarter-final.
In the last derby of the Group II preliminary, Nimba plays host to Sinoe and River Cess meets Montserrado.
In kickball, the winner between River Cess and Montserrado will qualify alongside Nimba County, while in football Nimba needs a win to ensure her qualification for the quarter-final.
