Members of Alpha Old-timer Association, especially players of Mighty Red Dragon on Saturday, April 4, celebrated their 2015 debut trophy at Raji’s Farm in Kplekpor, Bomi Highway.

Head coach Cllr. Theophilus C. Gould thanked the players for clinching the trophy at the end of a 2-day tournament in honor of Defense Minister Brownie Samukai and urged them to keep up the spirit.

The tournament was held March 15-16, at the Alpha Oldtimer Sports Field, in Zubah Town, Duport road, in Paynesville.

The Mighty Red Dragon is one of the four in-house teams of Alpha Old-timer and Fraternity Association, headed by Cllr. T.C. Gould, who is also the President of the Liberia Oldtimer National Association (LONA).

The remaining internal teams of Alpha are Force, captained by Dr. Nathaniel McClain; Legend – Sen. George M. Weah and Angel – Musa H. Bility.

The Red Dragons pinned Legend 2-1 in their last derby to grab the Brownie Samukai Trophy.

A member of the Legend, who begged for anonymity, said the Red Dragon survived the Legend owing to the absence of Africa’s Legend George M. Weah.

Potent forwarder Cole Bangalu of the Red Dragon said the victory should be a caveat to future tournaments.

Deputy Sports Minister Henry Yonton, who is also a member of the Red Dragon, said the trophy is a relief and motivator.

The host, Mustapha Raji said the occasion was not merely to celebrate their trophy but to foster togetherness amongst their members.

Meanwhile, some of the invited guests during the celebration included former LFA President Cllr. S. Izetta Wesley, who is one of the founding members of Independent Old-timer Association and Mr. Alfred Sayon, founding president of the BOTFA Old-timer amongst others.

Speaking behalf of the invited guests, Cllr. Wesley thanked the Mighty Red Dragons for the Brownie Samukai’s Trophy and wished them well.
