The president of Liberia Football Association (LFA) president Musa Bility, has put on hold kickoff of the inaugural edition of the President’s Cup.
The decision from the LFA president was made on Saturday, August 4, after he noticed that things were not properly structured for the commencement of the tournament.
“The activities of the organizing committee are hereby placed on hold until further notice,” the release said.
According to a release from the LFA,“the decision to place the opening of the 2018 President’s Cup on hold is to make the organizing committee all-encompassing to reflect the aspiration of the public since the tournament is being hosted in honor of the Chief Patron of Sports, President George Manneh Weah.”
As was earlier announced, the tournament was expected to kick-off over the weekend, with 32 teams participating in the male category and eight teams in the female category.
The tournament that will be hosted annually, is aimed at honoring the Chief Patron of Sports, President George Manneh Weah, for his “numerous achievements and contributions to the country.
“The LFA Leadership through its President wants all technical and administrative protocols to be in place and properly structure a successful tournament,” the release said.
