Nyor-Butuo Town near the Buutuo headquarters in Buuyao District #5 in Nimba County on Saturday April 15 won a 4-town tournament staged by one of the prominent sons of the town.

The tournament, hosted by Emmanuel Y. Mantor, was part of activities that marked the Zohn and extended family memorial service held under the theme, “Remembering the Family Tree.”

Nyor-Butuo’s journey to victory began on Friday, April 14 when they defeated Nyor-Diaplay Town 2-1 in an entertaining encounter officiated by Abraham Y. Siaway. The second game between Nyor-Gomaplay and the Yao-Nanla FC ended in favor of Yao-Nanla FC when a player converted a spot kick to earn the lone goal.

Mr. Mantor presents the grand trophy to the winners

In the final on Saturday, Nyor-Butuo emerged victorious after defeating Yao-Nanla with a 2-1 score line.

Mr. Mantor, the event organizer, awarded the 1st place winners a grand trophy valued at US$450 and a set of jerseys; the second place winners walked away with two footballs and a set of jerseys; the third place winners (Nyor-Diaplay) were awarded a set of jerseys and a football; and the Gomaplay, who finished in 4th place, walked away with a set of jerseys.
