Coach Koffa Konwro promises surprises

Both the male soccer and female kickball teams of the National Housing Authority (NHA) will begin after what Sports Director Kofa Konwro says a two-day intensive training at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium on Friday.

He said players for the two teams will be selected after the training. While he is handling the soccer team, the kickball team will be handled by coach Waddy Kamaboakai.

Already Coach Konwro said the NHA has paid the USD500 registration fee for the inter-ministerial league and will know their zone opponents after the draw on Friday.

It will be the second time the NHA will be taking part in the league that is meant to improve relationships and cooperation among employees and other government agencies and ministries.

He said the last time the NHA participated in the league, the kickball team went to the finals but both the volleyball and the soccer teams could only manage to end their campaigns in the second round of the league.

NHA HR Tonia Johnson told the confirmed that the NHA management has paid the registration fee and it is gearing itself to have a better representation at the tournament.

She also confirmed that the NHA has received 25 pairs of boots, four track suits, two sets of bibs and 20 kick-ball shoes.

She said all players for NHA’s two teams will be selected from its employees and noted that there are a good number of players from which to draw two teams.

However, both coach Konwro and Mrs. Johnson would reveal the names of their players for the tournament which begins on June 8, both said this year’s tournament will be different from their last participation.

“We will make sure that our players do well at the games,” Mrs. Johnson said.

But coach Konwro, who is also the secretary general and vice president for administration at the Liberia Oldtimers Association (LONA), said his teams will do great in the tournament for a change.

“We will surprise some of the teams in the league,” Coach Konwro said.
