The Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS) Sports Department yesterday received four trophies from Mr. Steve Gbanyan, coordinator of Donamisports/YMCA youth soccer league.

Receiving the trophies, Sports Director Amara U. K. Sambola Sr, expressed gratitude to Mr. Gbanyan for the good gesture and stated that the trophies will be presented to winners of the 2015-16 MCSS soccer and kickball leagues in Monrovia.

“These trophies are great donations to our effort to keep sports alive at our department,” Sambola said.

Earlier, Mr. Gbanyan said the offer, based on an appeal from Mr. Sambola, is meant to complement MCSS Sports Department’s efforts to keep the interest of students alive.

Gbanyan said Donamisports could provide additional support to the program and urged the department to encourage sportsmanship at all times.

It may be recalled that Boakai Athletics League on Thursday June 16 made a donation of three trophies to the MCSS Sports Department.

Meanwhile, according to Mr. Sambola the award ceremony to the winners, will include Boastwain (soccer), Matilda Community (soccer), Emmanuel Johnson (kickball), and Anna F. Whisnant (kickball), and will be presented to them today at 2pm at the Tubman High Gymnasium in Monrovia.
