Nine first division teams, six-second division teams, two third division teams, along with an all-star team will play in the senior category. The first division clubs, include LISCR FC, Barrack Young Controllers, Watanga FC, Monrovia Club Breweries, FC Fassel, Jubilee FC, Keitrace FC, LPRC Oilers and the newly-promoted Small Town FC, while Tony FC, Gardnersville FC, Mighty Barrolle, Invincible Eleven (IE), Freeport FC, FC Bea Mountain and Junior Professional will represent the second division, while GAC FC and Junior Pro will represent the third division.

The U15 category will see Monrovia Football Academy, CT United, Cece United and Sam Johnson Academy competing for the youth trophy.

Swen Bedell, secretary general of LISCR, said the club decided to launch the tournament due to the inactiveness of the first and second division national leagues in the country.

Mr. Bedell said it was the club’s intention to include more teams in the tournament, but was limited to 18 participating teams because of financial issues; but feels it is a great opportunity for the 18 participating teams.

“It has been a long time since the national leagues ended and are yet to begin, and it is frustrating for clubs. We have decided to launch this tournament to reawaken the spirit of football. We could have included more teams, but 18 were invited because of the huge money involved. I think it an opportunity for clubs to test their players after a long time without league football,” Bedell told

Participating clubs will be given US$150 each for preparation, while the winner of the senior category will walk away with US$1,000 and a trophy. Second place will pocket US$500 and the winner of the U15 category will earn US$100. There will be no prize for the second-place team in the U15 category.

Top performing players in each match will be presented an award, while certificates will be awarded to the tournament’s most valuable players, the highest goal scorer, the best coach, best defender and best midfielder at the end of the tournament.
The tournament marks the second pre-season tournament hosted by LISCR since the LFA national league ended.
