LISCR Football Club have bade farewell to center defender Richard Lloyd after the club declined to offer him a contract renewal.

The defender’s time with the club has come to an end after three successful years. Lloyd joined the ‘Shipping Boys’ in 2015 from first division club, Watanga FC for an undisclosed amount after winning the ‘Best Defender’ award during the 2014/2015 season.

Lloyd was part of Gambian coach Tapha Manneh’s squad that won both First Division championship and FA Cup during the 2016/2017 league season when the team went unbeaten in 22 league games. He also won the 2018 Liberia Super Cup with the team.

Swen Bedell, Secretary General of LISCR FC, thanked Lloyd for his contributions over the years and described him as a player who was seen as a leader in the dressing room.

“When we needed a person to fill the gap for us in center defense, we got him and he helped us over the years. He came to the club with great experience which was a great help to us on the pitch and in the dressing room where he was a leader for the younger players. We thank him for his countless efforts over the years and we wish him good luck in his career”, Bedell told LISCR FC Media.
