In Belarus, former LISCR striker Christopher Jackson scored a brace to help FC Shakhtyor Soligorsk to collect a comfortable 11-0 victory in the Belarusian Cup.

Belarus, a landlocked country in Eastern Europe, is known for its Stalinist architecture, grand fortifications, and primeval forests. Its modern capital is Minsk.

Striker Jackson played the full 90 minutes and increased Shakhtyor’s tally to 8-0 through his first goal in the 42nd minute. With a 9-0 lead in the first half, Jackson completed his brace just two minutes into the second half to change the scores to 10-0 before his teammate Sibomana made it 11-0 in the 61st minute.

Shakhtyor has progressed to the Round of 16 of the Belarusian Cup as the team awaits its next opponent.

The Belarusian Cup is a traditional single-elimination tournament that usually involves all clubs participating in Belarusian Premier League, First and Second Leagues as well a small number of amateur clubs that can qualify through local amateur Cup competitions. The Cup includes six rounds. The First Round involves clubs from the Second League and amateur clubs paired against First League clubs, with lower league clubs having a home advantage in a single-legged tie.

Winners of the First Round proceed to the Round of 32 where they are paired against Premier League clubs. Sixteen winners of Round of 32 progress to the Round of 16 where pairings are decided by an open draw.

Jackson left LISCR FC and traveled to Belarus to attend tryouts with Shakhtyor earlier January, before LISCR, later in February, announced that it agreed on a deal with FC Shakhtyor Soligorsk for a free transfer of the 21-year-old.
