The first round of the FA Cup produced more surprises last Sunday in matches in eight centers where Liberia Football Association matches are held.
At the Blue Field, BYC received Super Rollers and after several misses, exploded in the second half to score 4-0, in a match that was one-sided.
Spurred on by a Cheering Squad, a singing group, BYC rose to their gain and pumped in four goals as against none by their opponents.
LISCR FC also playing at home defeated Darious FC 1-0 and as reported in yesterday’s issue of this paper, Ganta Black Star managed to beat Nimba United FC on penalties, after a one-all draw (5-4).
Also playing at home, LPRC-Oilers humiliated Small Town FC 4-0 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.
Sime Darby, however lost 0-1 at home to FC Fassell and Aries FC also lost 1-0 at home to Coach Kennedy Musu’s ELWA United FC.
The last match between Muscat FC that was playing away to Monrovia Club Breweries at the D. Twe sports pitch could not come on due to a ‘force majeure’ meaning unexpected reasons and the game is meanwhile rescheduled today at the Blue Field at 4p.m.
The first round has not witnessed any development bordering on any of the smaller teams cutting down any of the giant teams.
Most of the second division clubs have all lost and many are wondering if Muscat FC could make a difference.
However, Oilers have been on top form since the league and have made teams unhappy in their encounters. But with soccer being the way it is, expect anything to happen.
