The Liberia Athletics Federation (LAF) is expected to celebrate the World Athletics Day on Friday, May 15.
According to a release, there will be Kids’ Athletics Exhibition in Kakata, Margibi County.
Six schools are expected to participate in the Kids’ Athletics Exhibition, which will take place on the campus of BWI.
The release said each school will be represented by eighteen athletes with a composition of nine girls and nine boys in a separate age range.
Group One consists of children with ages ranging from 7-12: four boys and four girls, and Group Two will comprise of the youth category ranging from ages 13-15: five boys and five girls.
There will be six stations in the Kid Athletics Exhibition in the following events; formula I, sprint and hurdle, overhead back throw, kids javelin, rope skipping and long pole jump.
Meanwhile, the 2nd day celebration of the World Athletics Day is scheduled in Monrovia on Saturday, May 23.
More than 1500 runners are expected to compete in the road race from 20th Street in Sinkor to Sport Commission on Broad Street.
Mr. Krah also said the 5km Road race will comprise of two groups (Junior and Senior) of both males and females.
“There will be cash prizes for the first, second and third place winners in each group,” Fred Krah, vice president for technical affairs said.
This year’s celebration marks the 20th edition of the World Athletics Day of which more than 123 IAAF members celebrate every May.
