The U-17 squad of the Cece United Football Academy continues to progress in the ongoing Montserrado County Community League Playoffs with the team advancing to the quarter-finals yesterday at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.

Seated second on the table with three points, United needed a win to put them in a standing position for the quarter-finals, but that was not the case after the Saye Town based academy side settled to a goalless draw against SYP FC.

It was a moment of decisions for the team after a goalless draw against group leaders Zubah Town FC in the day’s first match. Following the draw that extended United’s points to four in the group, the team’s fate was now left in the hands of SYP FC, who also needed a win to advance to the quarter-finals.

Players and staff of United were left with no option, but to pray for a favorable result from the next match. The result finally went their way after the SYP FC and Zanthy FC game ended goalless. The draw also extended SYP’s points to four in the group to level with Cece United, but did not make it to the quarter-finals after United qualified on goals difference.

United is now waiting for its next opponent in the quarter-finals draw.
