Nimba United’s Coach Kollie Korvah says he is positive that his side can bounce back and whip Union Sportive de Douala (Cameroon) at home on the return-leg of the 2016 CAF Club Champions League.
Coach Korvah adamantly told the Daily Observer over the weekend that his side has the caliber of players to pull the strings on Sunday, Feb. 27, in Douala, Cameroon, but failed to state the exact number of goals and whether their win would see them qualify.
It may be recalled that on Sunday, Feb. 7, the Cameroonian football runner-up, Union Douala, comfortably tossed Liberia’s football giant Nimba United 3-1 in the first-leg at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia.
Coach Korvah stated that the Mountainous Boys will not only be able to grab a win but will also be able to make history to be the only Liberian side to defeat a Cameroonian side for the first time.
“It’s football…and we are positive of a win… we’ll dust ourselves off and bounce back to beat Union Douala,” Korvah said.
“I cannot say how many goals we will beat Union Douala, but I am sure we will beat them…and cannot also say whether we will qualify, but can tell you that we will whip Union Douala,” Korvah said.
The Nimba United coach revealed that his side will use “the 4-3-3 plot in diamond form.”
According to Coach Korvah’s starting 11, goalie Emmanuel Denniah will be between the woodworks.
He said the adept players for the 4-3-3 pattern will include right-back Edward Dean, left-back Anthony Bougbor and central defenders Larmie Janneh and Joseph Dennis.
Korvah named the trio of midfielders as Foday Sumah, Barbu Kollie and Darlington Philip while the front-liners are listed as Kossi Adetu George, Titus Cooper and Seleame Sholee Quiah, alias Deco.
Meanwhile, Coach Korvah has indicated that Nimba United will depart the country on Wednesday, Feb. 22, for Cameroon.
“We are leaving sooner to acclimatize to the Cameroonian weather and hope that it will be an advantage to our mission,” Coach Korvah said.
“We’ll have a little rest and come back with fresh minds ready to go…we will then put our minds on the game……and we are the type of team who fights….,” he stated.
Nimba United was founded in 2010 to replace Adorence FC.
This is the first time for the Mountainous Boys to qualify for a CAF tournament.
Last Monday, the 2012 LFA football champs, LISCR FC, played 3-3 in a friendly match at the ATS with Union Douala.
The pulsating draw was the first time a Liberian team tied with a Cameroonian outfit.
In 2013, the Cameroon runner-up winner tossed LISCR FC from the CAF Champions Club tournament on a 3-1 aggregate.
Union Douala whipped LISCR FC 2-1 in Douala, Cameroon, and 1-0 in Monrovia.
