The Liberia Football Association will hold its 2nd Beach Soccer Football Tournament this weekend in the Borough of New Kru Town at the Lagoon Beach Soccer field.
The 2nd Beach Soccer tournament is being held under the sponsorship of Guinness, one of the brands of Club Beer and is code named the LFA Guinness Beach Soccer Tournament.
LFA 1st Vice President Musa Shannon said the beach soccer tournament will run for two days and will bring together 4 teams from Monrovia.
He named the participating teams as PHP (winners of the last tournament), West Point, Ambassadors and host New Kru Town. He said the tournament is being played on a knockout basis with the two winners playing in the grand final on Sunday.
The LFA Vice President stated the tournament is in line with the strategic plan of the LFA and its beach soccer development program and it will run from May 28 through 29.
Mr. Shannon said the LFA wants to bring the fun and excitement to the people of New Kru Town just like West Point and is hopeful the people of the Borough will turn out and give their support.
According to a release from the LFA, the tournament will be the last before the end of the current dry season as the rainy season is quickly closing in.
A refresher workshop on the rules and laws of beach soccer will be held among the participating teams ahead of the tournament.
The workshop will bring together coaches, referees and technicians of the LFA Beach Soccer Committee.
