Traditional rivals, IE and Barrolle are interestingly meeting for the first time since the outbreak and purge of the Ebola Virus in March-2014 at the Blue Field, PHP Community, in Monrovia at 4:00pm.

The 1960 rivals would play the second match in the opener of the President’s Cup, which brings together eight clubs from the 1st division, six 2nd division clubs as well as four female clubs.

The President’s Cup will kick-off today with five days to end of the 1st pre-season tournament, Coca-Cola Big 8 Tournament, which was won by BYC I.

Unfortunately, the two rival clubs didn’t meet in the Coca-Cola Tournament because Barrolle was eliminated in the preliminary rounds while IE was knocked out in the semi finals.

The meet between Might Barrolle (Kanyan Pepper Red Boys) and Invincible Eleven, (Sunshine Yellow Boys) is considered the clash of the titans because either side wants to prove dominance because of their traditional rivalry, even though both sides have 13 titles.

Barrolle’s coach Benjamin Saydee is focused on victory against Invincible Eleven.

Invincible Eleven’s coach Papa Kamara, though never wore the national colors in his football career, seems to gain ground in his coaching with the recent performance to qualify ahead FC Fassell.

If either of the two traditional rivals won the President’s Cup, this would be the first pre-season since the 1990s.

Most football fans have predicted a win for 1st division club IE over 2nd division Barrolle because of current performance at the just ended tournament but Barrolle fans are arguing that ‘football is like biscuit that breaks anywhere,” according to football historian Josiah N. Johnson.

Tomorrow, 1st division Watanga will host 2nd division Gardnersville FC at 2:00pm, while Nimba United meets 2nd division Holder FC.

On Sunday, NPA Anchors face BYC II and newly promoted FC Fassell meets 2nd division Joy conquerors.

On Monday, 1st division Jubilee FC will lock horns with 2nd division ELWA United FC and football giant BYC I hosts newly promoted 2nd division Sesay FC.

The preliminary round ends on Tuesday with LISCR and Mighty Blue Angels. The 9th winner of the 1st phase will go to a draw on Wednesday to resume the semi finals on Friday.

The best-out-of-three women football begins on Tuesday, May 26 with Blanco and Senior Pro and then Earth Angel versus Determine Girls on Wednesday.
