LISCR FC head Coach Tapha Manneh and national team Coach James Debbah will be expecting to see goalkeeper Tommy Songo returning to regular training with his club today at the Olympic Stadium in the Soul Clinic Community ahead of their next match against FC Fassel and the upcoming WAFU tournament.
Goalkeeper Songo on Sunday sustained an injury and had to be substituted after he sprung to knock Barrack Young Controllers’ striker Randy Dukuly’s shot over the cross bar.
Goalkeeper Songo’s injury worried LISCR fans due to the consistent attempts made by their opponents during the match, but Songo kept preventing his side from conceding a goal.
The situation also led to national team Coach James Debbah leaving the VIP stand to do a follow-up on the goalkeeper’s injury after he was substituted.
But a message of relief to the two coaches and fans was yesterday revealed by the medical staff of LISCR through the team’s public relations officer (PRO) that the goalkeeper will return to training today with his club.
“We can confirm that goalkeeper Tommy Songo will officially resume training Wednesday, May 10 after being forced out of the match against Barrack Young Controllers FC,” said the PRO.
Goalkeeper Songo has been outstanding for his club since he returned to Coach Manneh’s starting XI in the club’s fourth league match against Jubilee and has so far kept seven clean sheets out of nine league matches this season.
