A contingent of players and officials of the female national soccer team, Lone Star, left the country yesterday for Freetown, Sierra Leone.

The team will play a friendly match against their Sierra Leonean counterparts, on March 8, to celebrate International Women’s Day, which is celebrated worldwide.

The female Lone Star was assisted in its preparation by national coaches, who took them through series of workouts and improved and perfected their techniques in attacking and in defense.

In a telephone interview last night, LFA Secretary General B. Alphonso Armah confirmed that the 37-team delegation was headed by Ms. Rochell Woodson, accompanied by Madam Ciata Bishop, president of the Liberia Female Football Association, an outfit of the Liberia Football Association.

The team is expected to return home on Monday.
