Soccer lovers last Saturday were entertained to an afternoon three 3rd division youth football games at the D. Twe sports pitch in Monrovia.
The last game was between Garmordeh FC and Jr. Pros. Both teams played, missing goals until the 72nd minute.
It was when Garmordeh FC’s hard running player Eugene Togba ensured that victory was certain over Junior Pros. It was during an attack and Togba kick a high one that was surprisingly misjudged by the opposing goalkeeper, for the ball to bounce over him and entered the gapping net.
Both teams had settled to a 0-0 draw in the first half and Garmordeh FC’s coach made a couple of substitutions.
Many fans had anticipated a win for Garmordeh FC since they had started the game with vim, missing a goal attempt in the first minute.
As the game moved into the last quarter, Garmordeh FC increased their attacks and it was just against the run of play that winner Eugene Tokpa took a chance that earned his side the much needed victory.
His friends ran to him and congratulated him for a clever kick that was misjudged by the goalkeeper.
Earlier in the first game Island Pro and FC Khala played to a 0-0 draw and Wilson Pro made light work of Tweh Farm Pro, beating them 2-0.
The third division league continues this coming weekend at the same venue.
