BYC I vs. BYC II at Blue Field

The 2014/2015 LFA Cup holders BYC I and 2015 LFA Super Cup Champions BYC II are expected to lock horns in a friendly encounter today at 4pm at BYC’s Blue Field, in appreciation to their fans who cheer them to victory.

The friendly is also to test Liberia’s second representative, BYC II to the CAF Confederation Cup which starts early 2016.

According to the organizer, tomorrow’s game will be a total “Go Blue Boys day.” The first 100 fans to enter the stadium beginning at 3pm will receive a free BYC Football key-chain.

BYC II has already begun training at its home pitch (Blue Field) for the 2016 Confederation Cup Championships. The draw will be announced at the end of December 2015.

BYC Football President Sekou “Ayatollah” Konneh dubbed the encounter “King of the Barracks” match, “and while BYC II are the present “darling boys” of Liberian football, their senior brothers have much to prove.”

Director of Football Thomas Kojo added “watching these two teams play each other is to watch some of the best football in Liberia-both teams are excellent.”

Preceding the match at 3:30pm, there will be a press conference and unveiling ceremony of the new BYC I head coach.

BYC II Football was crowned the 2015 LFA Cup Champions, defeating four 1st Division clubs in route to the title, since winning it in 2012. BYC Football junior side (BYC II) recently captured the 2015/2016 LFA Super Cup, defeating 2015 LFA league champions Nimba United. It was BYC II first Super Cup victory and 2nd time in Liberian football history where a 2nd Division side had won the Super Cup. Of the 6 available trophies for the LFA 2015 season, BYC Football captured three: 2015 Coca Cola Cup Champion (BYC-I), 2015 Super Cup Champion (BYC-I), 2015 LFA Cup Champions (BYC-II).
