Grand Basa County narrowly whipped Grand Gedeh County 3-0 in the opening game of the 21-day’s Mock County Meet organized by the King Peter’s town Youth for Development, on the King Peter’s town sports pitch, Bong Mine Bridge community.
Bassa’s hitmen Teklo Tweh, Mulbah T. Kollie, John S. Lebbie in the 43rd minute raised the curtain on the tackle-field of eight players on each side.
The main financier of the tournament, Rep. Adolph Lawrence said the tournament was intended to develop the skills of the youths, engage in community consciousness and correlate with his constituency.
The Montserrado County District #15 Representative, prior to the kick-off, admonished the players, referees and organizers to exhibit fair play.
However, according to the organizer, the winner of the tournament will receive US$75; runner up will get US$50 and 2nd runner up will grab US$25.
According to today’s fixture Margibi faces River Gee and Nimba meets Sinoe. On Tuesday, Bomi will lock horns with Lofa and Maryland will lock horns with Grand Kru County; and on Wednesday, Bong County will face Grand Cape Mount County.
