Ahead of Liberia’s international friendly against Kenya on November 15, ten players from LFA Champions, BYC-1, have been invited to join the national team, Lone Star.
According to the LFA, striker Mark Paye who scored against Tunisia in his first appearance and is the current holder of the LFA “Golden Boot”, is among the ten players invited by national team Coach James Debbah.
Striker Paye, according to his team, is currently at his best, after scoring 16 goals from 15 matches last season and also scoring four goals in three of the team’s pre-season matches at the Blue Field.
“Mark is a young player and still developing, so this is a big part of his international education. He has a good mentality, therefore he will respond in the right way and we are looking forward to working with him,” BYC quoted Coach Debbah.
Other players include team captain Van-Dave Harmon, who will be making his second appearance for the national team; newly signed Ketu Jerbo, David Tweh, Sporo Somah and Sylvanus Morris.
The rest are Prince Jetoh, Kemoh Kamara, Karleo Anderson and Hilton Vernay.
From the results of its pre-season matches, the LFA Champion has shown their preparedness for the pending LFA Super Cup encounter, slated for November 29 at the ATS, against Monrovia Club Breweries, and the 2017 Cellcom National League season.
In three of its pre-season games, the champions defeated three county teams, including Montserrado County 6-1, defending champions Grand Bassa County 2-1, and Nimba County 2-1.
The team will play its final pre-season game against LISCR FC at the ATS on November 12, at 4 p.m.
BYC-1’s ten players are among 29 locally-based players that have begun preparation for the November 15 international friendly in Nairobi, Kenya, against Harambee Stars.
A 25 man delegation comprising six professionals will fly to Narobi, Kenya, to honor the international friendly.
