Title holders LISCR FC will face Monrovia Club Breweries in the 2018 Liberia Football Association Knockout Cup (FA Cup). The draw was made on Tuesday, October 2, at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium through a random selection in the open.
The second semifinal will be between Barrack Young Controllers (BYC) and newly promoted first division side NPA Anchors.
After seeing off Watanga FC in the quarterfinals, holders LISCR FC will now have to get past Monrovia Club Breweries in the last four stage if they must continue the defense of their title. Opponents Breweries had a smooth sailing after defeating Nimba Kwado 2-0 in the quarterfinal’s stage. The Bushrod Island-based club will also be hoping to clinch the trophy since they last won it during the 2015/2016 league season. Both LISCR and Breweries have their hopes on the FA Cup after losing their status as first division league contenders.
NPA Anchors, the first team to reach the semifinals, needed post-match penalties to get past 2nd division club FC Bea Mountain after goalless 90 minutes of play. If the Anchors ought to reach the final, they will have to upset outstanding BYC.
BYC seem to be aiming for a double after extending their goal difference in Group A of the league, gaining their possible group winners status. The “Go Blue Boys” have so far scored 10 goals in their last two games in both FA Cup and Championship.
The semifinals will be played on October 5 at the ATS.
