Unbeaten LISCR FC and FC Fassel will today clash for the last time in the FA Cup quarter-final second leg match at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium. The result will see one of the teams joining ELWA United in the semi-finals of the competition.
The first leg between the two sides ended in a 1-1 tie after midfielder Sekou Sheriff scored in a well taken free kick from outside the 18.
FC Fassel took the lead in the early minutes of the game after striker Sam Collins gave a skillful heel pass to forward Terrence Tisdell through which the forward sent in a clinical finish to put the Soccer Missionaries in front.
Following the first leg, all eyes will now be focused at the ATS when the two teams fight for a slot in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
Out of their last three meetings LISCR won two, winning the second match through a protest after FC Fassel were found guilty of fielding defender Dider Sosa who had previously received three consecutive yellow cards that warranted a one match suspension.
Following the result of their third meeting there were reports that another protest was filed by LISCR FC after FC Fassel featured Tisdell who received a red card in the match against Barrack Young Controllers, but the FA’s Grievance and Ethics Committee is yet to disclose the result of the protest.
The rivalry between the two teams continues to grow. Both teams are currently seated in the first and second positions on the league table; with three matches left to end the season, Fassel are topping the log with six points.
The two teams remain major contenders for both the FA Cup and the championship, with LISCR Coach Tapha Manneh continues to emphasize that his side will end the season unbeaten, while FC Fassel on the other hand seems to earmark the two titles.
With 90 minutes plus added time left as the only decider between the two rivals, will FC Fassel end the unbeaten record of LISCR FC and continue their double title chase? Or will the Shipping Boys defeat the Soccer Missionaries to advance to the semi-finals of their targeted trophy this season?
