Title holders LISCR FC aim to retain the title today. They have already booked their ticket to the 2018/19 CAF Confederation Cup as finalists of the FA Cup after BYC won the championship-securing them a spot in the CAF Champions League

The regular 90 minutes, if not, an extra time or penalty kicks will decide the winners of the 2018 Liberia Football Association knockout cup (FA Cup), when holders LISCR FC battle newly crowned league champions Barrack Young Controllers (BYC) in the grand final today at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium.

It will be a tough encounter as both teams will be meeting for the first time in the 2018 league season.

Both sides have come a long way from the first round after eliminating four opponents respectively to reach the final. Holders LISCR edged out Monrovia Club Breweries 2-0 in the semifinals, while BYC knocked out NPA Anchors in a dramatic 4-2 win in extra time at the ATS.

Although BYC have already won the championship, paving the way for LISCR FC to represent Liberia at the CAF Confederation Cup as finalists of the FA Cup, they are also targeting a double as was done by LISCR last season.

On the other hand, the FA Cup remains LISCR’s only focus after failing to defend the championship and will be looking to retain the title.

The anxiety of both Robert Lartey winning a double this season and Tapha Manneh retaining his favorite cup cannot be understated as both coaches have a perfect game plan of working in every department on the pitch to win the knockout cup.

Extra time would not be a surprise as we saw in the championship final on Wednesday, October 17, when BYC saw off LPRC Oilers 4-2 on penalty kicks after a 2-2 draw on the field of play.
