Former Liberia international midfielder and the presumptive contender in the 2018 LFA presidential elections, Janjay Innis, has blasted Musa Bility in the wake of the huge financial support from the world football governing body, FIFA, and local sponsors for “the appalling condition” of football in the country.

In a telephone conversation from his base in Paris, France, Innis said Bility, who will be seeking a third term in next year’s elections, should not be reelected because of the downturn of football in the country.

He argued that Bility’s stay ‘would continue the curse on the most popular game.’

Innis said the LFA leadership’s inability to develop the modern aspect of football with measures that will enhance the game is causing serious setbacks not only to the beautiful game but for clubs and young talented players.

He pointed out that one of the major flaws of the LFA is the lack of risk management in its administration of the game in the country.

He said it is important for the leadership of the FA to undertake a structural approach to risk management to demonstrate the taking of precautionary measures to minimize risks.

“Risk management is a crucial aspect to modern football because the objective is to protect the assets and financial resources of youth clubs and its members by reducing risk and the potential for losses,” he said.

According to Innis, risk management in sports is also about being aware of what may happen at the FA and the clubs, with steps to limit the chances of losses.

He said risk management is not necessarily harmful; but left unaddressed, it can have a significant negative impact on a football club.

Innis further said risk management is important for football clubs to undertake a structured approach so they can demonstrate to insurers and others that they have taken the precautionary measures to minimize it.

Given the increasing desire of people to hold organizations accountable for their actions and the difficulty in obtaining appropriate insurance, risk management is a crucial aspect to modern management of football at all levels, he said.

It may be recalled that Innis recently expressed his intention to contest in the 2018 LFA Presidential Election, and if successful to improve the standard of the game.

He indicated that his decision to contest the presidency of the LFA is based on his wealth of experience as a player, technician, and administrator.

He placed more emphasis on the development of youth football and incorporating the expertise of former players to enhance the development of the game in every capacity.

The former Liberian midfielder plied his professional career in Switzerland with Yverdon and Al Nasr Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. He also won two caps for the national team. During his heyday, he was taken to Switzerland along with Josephus Yenay by Liberia’s second sports Ambassador Jonathan Sogbie (Boye Charles).

Like Innis, many pundits are calling for the restructuring of the LFA as well as a roadmap that will rejuvenate the spirit of the local league, which has been dead over the years. He is expected in the country at the weekend.

  1. This is the cancer of Liberia. There can be no logical basis for an individual to run the affairs for three terms. Bility should step aside. The continuity of one gang in power for three terms is simply a license for them carrying on their corruption. Here is an an organisation which cannot pay its coaches because of a corrupt and incompetent administration. nd then you want to give this man and his gang a third term.

TO PUT A STOP TO THIS NONESENSE, ALL OF THE FOOTBALLERS IN LIBERIA SHOULD PROTEST ANY ATTEMPT OF MUSA BILITY´S THIRD TERM NOW. THESE CROOKS ONLY COME TO THE LFA TO ENRICH THEMSELVES. YOU SEE EDWIN SNOWE? WE DO NOT HAVE TO TELL YOU ABOUT MUSA BILITY OR THIS OTHER SEKOU KONNEH WHO IS COMING IN. OR EVEN MUSA SHANNON WHO HAS NO RESPECT FOR THE COACHES. YOU NEED A REAL HEARTY INDIVIDUAL FOR SPORT TO HEAD THIS ASSOCIATION. ONE GOOD, COMPETENT, AND SUITABLE, INDIVIDUAL IS BENEDICT WISSEH, OR EVEN JAMES SALINSA DEBAH.

  2. Politics is entangled in everything! Example, there’s politics of government, politics of business, politics of boyfriend and girlfriend affair and yes, politics of sports. The list of things that involves politics is almost endless. The former midfielder, Janjay Innis, is talking politics of sports. He is right!

I do not know Innis, neither have I watched him play a soccer game. I have never met Mr. Bility, neither have I observed or read something about his management skills. While making my commentary, I take no sides in the war of words, between Innis and Bility other than the Liberian side.

    The Liberian side is translucent.
The Liberian national soccer team, the Lone Star, has not been doing well in recent years. It’s about time that a re-building process hand begun. A few months ago, Josiah Johnson stated that money was needed in order to put forth a good national soccer team. Mr. Johnson is a veteran of the Lone Star team. I watched Johnson in action a long time ago. When Johnson proudly states that money is needed in order to re-build a formidable national team, let’s listen to him.

That brings me to Debbah whom I have not met either. But it is believed that Debbah is a very good team person whose coaching abilities have unified our national team. When some Liberians attempted to bring a Ghanaian as a coach of our national team, I was furious. I preferred Debbah, because he is an insider whose talents helped bring a sense of pride to our national team. It didn’t
made sense than and now that a Ghanaian would do a better job than Debbah.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that Innis, Bility, the veteran Jossiah Johnson and Debbah will work cooperatively together to make the Lone Star team a better team. If Innis challenges Bility and wins, it should be understood that that’s how politics operates. On the other hand, if Innis loses his bid to Bility, the end of the world is not in sight. The most important thing that all sports enthusiasts including JJ, Bility, Innis and Debbah must do is to work tirelessly to make the Lone Star team a better team. It is doable!
