At least 50 kids’ football teams, under the management of DonamiSports and the YMCA, will kickoff tomorrow morning at 10, at the Duport Road sports pitch in Monrovia, Doc Lawson, President of DomaniSports, said yesterday.
He said the tournament will start with a parade before the games. The kids’ tournament was launched four years ago, but was called off due to the Ebola Virus Disease in 2014.
“This is a special tournament that needs a special kind of people to handle because the players are kids,” Mr. Lawson said.
The kids’ ages range from 3-7 years. Lawson added that the tournament is a unique program as it sees little children running behind a football. DonamiSports is providing jerseys and footballs, among others, for all the participants.
He said although there is also a tournament for children in the 10-14 age group; however, this morning’s games are “for the special people.”
“We want the children to enjoy their game, as they have fun with each other under our care,” Mr. Lawson said.
