The Christain Academy Institute (CAI), last Saturday, emerged champions in the annual two-day track and field competition amongst 10 schools.
The CAI won the National High School Athletics Championship with 55 points in the 10 events.
The captain of CAI, Sundayboy Barcon, described their triumph as “results of their hard practice and encouragement from their administration.”
“We want to make it a promise, we will retain it next year and on behalf of the athletes we will like to thank the administration,” Barcon said.
The Jimmy Jolocon High School, located on Somalia Drive grabbed the runner-up trophy, courtesy of Lucy Massaquoi. Jimmy Jolocon got 50 points.
St. Samuel High School clinched the 3rd place trophy with 21 points and the 4th and 5th places went to Kingdom Foundation Institute (18 points) and the William V. S. Tubman High School (14 points).
The Liberia Athletics Federation (LAF) with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports organized the competition.
Some of the events were 1500m, 100m, 400m 4x400m, high jump, shot put, 800m, 200m and long jump.
