Every era has its heroes and Tugbeh C. Tugbeh of the National Housing Authority (NHA) will lead a team of soccer players in a rescue attempt of Shelters of the NHA in their second match at the Barclay Training Center field in central Monrovia
They had lost 3-1 to GAC in their first match.
Playing against GAC-Auditors on Tuesday, Tugbeh C. Tugbeh came in the game when his team was losing and when TCT saw an opportunity, in the cause of the game he went for it and he was the engineer of the lone and consolation goal secured in their 3-1 loss.
Many of those who watched the game against GAC-Auditors claim that because of the downpour of rain the field was slippery and as a result players and defenders were falling down in their attempts to kick or pass the ball to their team-mates.
They said this was confirmed by ELBC reporter Kolubah Zayzay that it would seem that Tugbeh C. Tugbeh (TCT) had been watching the practice matches of President George Weah, for TCT imitating the Chief Executive moved in an attempt to provide support to his team-mates but changed his mind when he saw an opportunity.
A ball from a teammate met TCT on the run, and this was near their opponents’ danger zone. With the ball in his possession, his team-mates dashed about taking positions with the hope to receive the ball. At the same time, GAC-Auditors’ defenders, at least two of them, were moving in to put stop to the threat that was coming towards them. Like President Weah in action, Tugbeh C. Tugbeh elusively put the ball to his left, and the two defenders misjudged him and thought he was going in the opposite direction.
In a split second, Tugbeh C. Tugbeh had displaced the two defenders and was in the clear. GAC’s goalkeeper was said to have opened his arms as if he was pleading for help from his defenders or from above.
At this time, many of the NHA employees, most them women, were calling for a goal. “TCT we want goal,” they cried.
Someone in the crowd also cried “Football, football, football,” an appreciation for what TCT was demonstrating to his opponents. However, GAC defenders could not let him be, and in the melee, caused the foul that caused the penalty that became the consolation goal for NHA.
This afternoon, TCT will lead his boys to take on LEC Current in one of the crucial matches of the day at 11 am. Both NHA and LEC lost their first matches and each team wants to save their image.
In all due respect, LEC Current played a great game against star-studded Ministry of Youth of Sports who had players such as Thomas Kojo, Jonah Sarwieh, and a host of Liberia’s former soccer international players.
LEC had several chances but could not make good of their opportunities and therefore ended their game 1-2 in favor of MYS. Now going into this afternoon’s game, they may be going all out not only to save their name but to ensure that they win the match to get their three points and with NHA’s desire to secure the three points, the competition will be tough and fans expect a good game.
In the second soccer game, Ministry of Justice (MOJ) will play Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) and the third soccer game is between Liberia Water & Sewer Corporation (LWSC) and the Environmental Protective Agency (EPA).
Meanwhile, in the kickball games, this morning at 9 am, LEC will play against NHA in the first game and MOJ will take on MCC at 10 am and the LWSC will play EPA in the third kickball game at the Barclay Training Center field at 11 am.
