Bong County High School Tournament Preliminary Round Ends

All games are organized by National High School Sports, an organization that uses sports as a platform to motivate young people to enroll in high school.

The preliminary and quarter-finals stages of the Bong County High School Football and Kickball Championship under the auspices of National High School Sports ended over the weekend with exciting football and kickball matches at the David Kuyon Sports Grounds in Gbarnga, Bong County.

The following high schools have now advanced to the semi-finals stage of the tournament: N.V. Massaquoi Football and Kickball (FB & KB), Bong Community (FB), Tubman Gray (KB), Gboveh High (FB), Alexander A. Andrew (KB), St. Martin’s (FB and KB).

The highest high school goal scorer at the moment in the tournament in Bong County is Emmanuel Potee of Gboveh High School with 4 goals, followed by Solomon Sumo of N.V. Massaquoi with 3 goals, Benedict Rennie of Phebe Lutheran with 3 goals, and Varney Kamara of Gboveh High with 3 goals.

The fixture for the semi-finals is as follows: today, Tuesday, May 28, N.V. Massaquoi vs Tubman at 12 pm in kickball; St. Martin’s vs Alexander A. Andrew at 1 pm in kickball; N.V. Massaquoi vs. Bong Community in football at 2 pm and Gboveh High vs. St. Martin’s in football at 3:30 pm.

All games are organized by National High School Sports, an organization that uses sports as a platform to motivate young people to enroll in high school. The organization harnesses sports and education in support of youth development, boosting school enrollment and helping to reduce youth illiteracy in Liberia.

Prizes for the 2018 national high school football and kickball champions include a large trophy, medals, and cash. There will also be an international travel opportunity for the national football champions to play friendly international high school games in Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone or Ivory Coast.

The Most Valuable Player of the 2018 National High School Football and Kickball Championship will receive a cash prize and one-year scholarship while the Highest Goal Scorer will receive the only cash prize.

  1. Wow! I graduated from Gboveh High School about 39 years ago. I attended N.V. Massaquoi Elementary School and then went to Gboveh High School where I graduated in 1979. My question is are all these school taking part in this tournament high schools now? We only had Gboveh, St. Martins, Tubman Gray and Peoples High those days.
