Liberia’s basketball giants, NPA ‘Deadly’ Pythons and LRPC Oilers have qualified for the semi-finals of the national basketball league, known as the Big 4, reports Leroy M. Sonpon, lll.
On Sunday the rivals signed up their already routine seats in the ongoing basketball championship at the open-air Sports Commission on Broad Street.
Pythons got their automatic qualification when they symbolically bounced the ball to net 20 points to indicate forfeit points from Barnersville Celtic, while Oilers whipped Timber Wolves 72-66 points.
In other Sunday’s matches Bushrod Bulls bowed to Harbel Pointers 54-44 points and Phoenix whipped Timber Wolves in the female category.
Accordingly, Mighty Barrolle and Timber Wolves are set to qualify to join LPRC and NPA.
With the latest forfeiture of Barnersville Celtics, one may believe that if such free points continue, it is obvious that both outfits would go on an easy ride.
Last weekend’s fixtures were cancelled because of the rain and LBA secretary general, D. Allen Goodridge told the Daily Observer yesterday that the semi finals might kick-off next week if the weather is favorable. Goodridge admitted that the rain is seriously stalling the progress of the league.
