The fixture for the quarterfinal of the basketball and volleyball of the on-going County Sports Meet has been set for Friday, January 8 at the Sports Commission on Broad Street, Monrovia.
Out of the 15-county teams in the basketball category, eight teams qualified for the quarterfinal, dubbed as ‘The Big 8.’ Likewise, in the volleyball version, eight teams have crossed over.
In Group One in the basketball category, Grand Bassa and Sinoe counties qualified with six and five points respectively, while Bong and River Gee counties dropped owing to low points – four and three points respectively.
Nimba County tops Group II with six points, while Bomi County qualified narrowly with four points and shots difference. Maryland and Grand Cape Mount counties settled with four points with less shots difference.
Rivercess and Lofa counties did not make it to the next round, while Grand Kru and Grand Gedeh qualified as Group III leaders.
In the basketball’s fixture on Friday, January 8, Bassa faces Bomi at the Sports Commission at 4:00pm and Nimba meets Sinoe County at 6:00pm.
On Sunday, January 10, Grand Kru will lock horns with Margibi at 4:00pm; and Gbarpolu rubs shoulders with Grand Gedeh County at 6:00pm.
In the Volleyball fixture on Friday, January 8, Grand Bassa meets Bomi at the Sports Commission at 12:00noon; and Grand Cape Mount faces Bong at 2:00m. On Sunday, January 10, Grand Gedeh will meet Margibi; and Montserrado will face Lofa County.
