Despite his team’s early exit from the 2018 CAF Champions League, LISCR FC defender Asiamuh Dann has described his appearance in Africa’s premier club competition as a “great experience.”
The 18-year-old defender said although the 3-1 aggregate defeat was not the result that his team anticipated, it was nonetheless an honor for him to have played in the competition for the first time, and moreover, “playing against one of Africa’s best football clubs, Al Hilal.”
“This is a memory that will never be forgotten,” he said.
Dann was among a few players spotted by Gambian coach Tapha Manneh during the second half of the 2016/2017 league season, and later became one of the coach’s favorite players.
The 18-year-old featured for the full 90 minutes against Al Hilal, both at home and away.
“This is football. We should create room for every result that comes our way and must be prepared to improve on it. I’m grateful for the support you’ve given me and my team. We can therefore assure you that we are coming back stronger,” he said on a statement he posted on his social media page.
Since joining the club, the 18-year-old has had a remarkable season after winning double titles with the ‘Shipping Boys’ and securing a slot in coach Manneh’s starting lineup.
Dann was one of the young players that helped Montserrado County win their first football title of the 2016 edition of the National County Sports Meet since 1956. It was Dann’s performance in the annual national sports festival that caught the top flight club’s attention to secure his signature.
