8 for Caldwell Soccer Tournament

A month-long football tournament kicks off this weekend in Caldwell. The tournament involving eight top teams in the various communities is intended to promote unity in the community as well as raise funds for the construction of a children’s park in the area.

The tournament is jointly organized by sports supporter, Ernest Wright and the Future Leaders Sports Association of Caldwell. The Chief Organizer, Ernest Wright said he’s delighted that participating community teams are upbeat about the tournament.

The teams are Diggsville, Kamasun, Lukorkor, Cellcom Tower, Taylor Major Compound, Down Stream, Thumps Up and Benson Street Communities.

The tournament will start on Saturday, May 31 with a parade through the streets of Caldwell, where an opening program will be held.

Shortly thereafter, the tournament kicks off with Benson Community taking on the Kamasun Community in the first match while Lukorkor takes on Thumps-Up in the second game on Saturday.

On Sunday, Down Stream will play Cellcom Tower Community in the first match while, Diggsville lock horns with Taylor Major Compound in the second match. The tournament will be played every weekend.

Mr. Wright said at the end of the tournament, the winner will receive an L$8,000.00 cash award, a trophy and medals while, the second place team will receive a trophy and medals.

The various communities have been urged to turn out to support their respective teams.
