The Liberia Athletics Federation (LFA) has announced the calendar of event for the 2016 National High School Championship.
The head coach of the LAF, Samuel C. Cooper, said this year’s championship will run from Friday – Saturday, (March 25-26) in Fendell, Montserrado County.
Coach Cooper stated that 32 high schools, in and around Monrovia, have received invitations to participate.
He indicated that 15 out of the 32 schools have confirmed their participation and would provide four athletes to form a team representing their respective institutions.
“The championship is also intended to select potential players that can represent the nation,” Coach Cooper noted.
He added, “We will have four athletes representing each institution in the 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m runs as well as the long jump.”
Meanwhile, the LAF head coach disclosed that the national track team is inactive due to lack of financial support.
“Presently, we only have two senior athletes, Abraham Harris in the 100 meters and Kedmiel Enders, a high jumper who are training, so we need financial support to enable us restore the athletic team,” he said.
