Nothing in recent times has dampened my spirit more than the story I read in the Wednesday, May 7, 2014 edition of the Daily Observer Captioned “Gay Increasing HIV Prevalence in Liberia.
Quite honestly, I have had sleepless nights since I read this story about the proliferation of homosexual activities in Liberia. Such news is indeed exceptionally worrisome.
Ofcourse, it is obvious that many of those involved in this act will argue that they have a right to satisfy their desires. I differ with them. Involving in such activities that jeopardize the growth and development of our state cannot be considered a personal matter.
Are those engaging in homosexualism aware that such an act could definitely invite the wrath of God on Liberia? I am sure we all remember the story of Sodom and Gomorrah-two sinful cities destroyed with fire by God, especially for their involvement in homosexual activities.
Let me close by admonishing my fellow compatriots to uncompromisingly advocate for the passing of legislations that would serve as a deterrent to homosexual activities in Liberia
I leave you with these wise words form Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: “We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hateful words and actions of the bad people, but for the appalling silence of the good people.”
