Sylvester Cox of Crozierville Is Dead

The death is announced of lifelong farmer, Mr. Sylvester S. Cox of Crozierville, Montserrado County, Liberia.

This sad event occurred in Crozierville on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, following a brief illness.

He was in his 68th year.

Mr. Cox was born in the Township of Crozierville on March 15, 1948 to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Sackie Naford Cox of Crozierville.

A product of the family of the late Liberian Ambassador John Cox, Sylvester was baptized and confirmed in Christ Episcopal Church of Crozierville and attended the church’s Parish Day School. One of his foster brothers was Mr. Thomas Cox, the late husband of dentist Dr. Ayele Ajavon Cox of Monrovia.
A lifelong farmer, Mr. Cox grew cassava, fruits, vegetables and sugar cane, from which he produced rum.

Mr. Cox faithfully served Christ Church for many years as a lay reader. He was in service performing that duty the Sunday before he died.

He leaves to mourn is loss his wife, Mrs. Mabel T. S. Cox; four children: Ealine, J. Sylvester Jr., Comfort and Eva Leemu Cox; four grandchildren; a sister, Muria Cox; a brother, Winston Cox; and many other relatives.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
