Nimba Politician’s Mother Dies

The death is announced of Mother Mammie Kwiayie Kelly Zoe; an astute mother from Beo-Yoola Town, now Twua River District, near the Liberian/Ivorian border in Nimba County. She was 79 (1936-2014).

Mammie, as her friends, relatives, and children affectionately called her, died recently of natural causes a family source has said.

Prior to her death, Mrs. Zoe, from Buo Clan,  became a staunch member of the Liberia Inland Church where she served along with her husband, Rev. Mabiakerler Zoe.

She leaves to mourn her loss, five living children; among them one daughter, Evangelist Rhoda Zoe and the political leader of opposition-Liberia Empowerment Party (LEP), Rev. Hananiah Zoe, 27 grand children and 18 great grand children.

According to Rev. Zoe, his mother died following a period of illness and “thanked God she’s gone to rest.”

“For me, to live is Christ, to die is gain, and so celebrate my home going together in peace and unity,” the late Mammie Zoe is quoted by Rev. Zoe as always telling her children while she was alive.

Meanwhile, Rev. Zoe has disclosed that activities concerning the funeral arrangements for their late mother are yet to be announced.
