Mrs. Williametta Eastman Buckle Jordan Dies

The death is announced of Mrs. Williametta Eastman Buckle Jordan, which sad event occurred on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the Middlesex Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut, United States of America.

She was 79.

She served as senior staff nurse at Catholic Hospital in Monrovia from 1987-1989; at Lamco Hospital in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County as supervisor of nursing from 1975 to 1987; and at the Catherine Mills Rehabilitation Center as director of nursing, 1963 to 1975.

Williametta also served professionally for many years in the United States.   

Born in Crozierville, Montserrado County on February 1, 1936, Williametta was the third child of Mr. Wilmot Eastman and his wife, Nancy Porte Eastman. 

“Metta,” as she was affectionately called, obtained her elementary education at St. Martin’s Catholic School in Gbarnga, Bong County.  She later entered Lott Carey Baptist Mission in Brewerville, where she graduated from high school in 1954.  She then entered the University of Liberia, where she studied until 1956 when traveled to England for training in Nursing.  There she qualified in General and Psychiatric Nursing.

She was twice married, first to Mr. Conie Evaristus Buckle of Broad Street, Snapper Hill, Monrovia, to which union several children were born. That union having ended in divorce, she later married Mr. Wilbur Jordan.

She leaves to mourn her loss her three children, Mrs. Lyla Natt, Evaristus Buckle (Sunny Boy), Delcina Buckle; her siblings, Julia, Eric and Emmanuel Eastman, Mrs. Elaine Eastman Johnson, Ms. Maude Eastman; and foster children, Gladys Anderson, Linda Johnson, Jamesetta Boima and Jerome Siakar. 

The funeral will take place in the USA at a date to be announced later.
