An emerging group under the banner ‘Young Professionals United for Community Empowerment and Development (YPUCED),’ on Tuesday, July 26, donated food and other items to patients at the Redemption Hospital in New Kru Town, Bushrod Island.

The items donated by YPUCED at the cost of US$3,000 included bags of rice, cans of vegetable oil and toiletries. They were received on behalf of the patients by the hospital’s Administrator, Dominic W. Rennie.

According to YPUCED’s Acting chair Francis Wallace, the gift items, were to identify with patients, mainly children, at the hospital during the observance of the country’s 169th Independence Day.

Wallace said the organization is committed to giving back to society, particularly to people who cannot afford to cater to their families during the festive season.

“Our organization chose to identify with patients at the Redemption Hospital this year because we feel and care for the patients, who are now vulnerable,” Wallace said.

Mr. Wallace hailed Redemption’s administrators for the level of work they are doing to save lives.

Mr. Rennie commended the leadership of YPUCED for the gifts, reiterating the hospital’s commitment to complement government’s efforts to improve the country’s healthcare system.

He told the young professionals that their contribution to Redemption is highly recognized, adding that no contribution at this difficult time will be considered small in the lives of patients.

Rennie assured the Young Professionals that the items will be used for the intended purpose, because they are essential for the patients’ wellbeing.
