Liberia will join other countries worldwide to celebrate the 37th Anniversary of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
The world body in 1979 set aside September 26 every year to be celebrated as World Tourism Day in recognition of the role tourism plays in the social and economic development of every country.
Assistant Information Minister for Tourism Madam Jacqueline M. Capehart said this year’s celebration will be held in Grand Cape Mount County from September 26-27 under the theme: “Tourism for All—Promoting Universal Accessibility.”
Madam Capehart said events for the celebration will include a competition based on the display of traditional activities in their various styles as they relate to their counties of origin.
Addressing the weekly press briefing at the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism on Thursday, Madam Capehart said the celebration will be climaxed by a grand parade in Robertsport, led by senior government officials and members of the business community.
